I enjoy a good debate concerning any of my thoughts.
If you agree or disagree with anything here, I would invite you
to drop me a line with your thoughts. Please note that I have little
time or patience for those who feel that I am not
right. If, however, you THINK that I am not right,
then please send me some debating points.
Before I get to some of my FAQ's, I would like
to present some links to websites that I read often. I find each
of these writers extremely fascinating (and great Americans!).

Interesting Articles
I believe Labor Unions will be the death of American business. Here is an excellent article to highlight the point.
The whole issue of spying on oversea's phone conversations was very interesting. I absolutely love Ann Coulter's brash, insightful and humorous columns.
A large debate in our public forum is schooling. How come our public schools do so poorly. The unions and teachers say that we don't spend enough money in the classroom. I say baloney. Here is the largest problem with public (government) schools today.
Taxes, rich people, poor people. I am very tired of hearing that the rich don't pay their fair share. Did you know that the top 5% of tax payers pay over 80% of all taxes? Did you also know that most of the so-called rich are really small businesses that take pay their taxes via personal tax forms. These types of companies are called "Sub-Chapter S Corporations". This means that the owners of these small businesses choose to file their corporate taxes through their individual tax forms (like you and me). So, if raise taxes on the top 5% of rich people, you are really taxing small businesses (for the most part). This means that these businesses will have less capitol (that's money to you and me) to invest in hiring and improving their businesses. Are you willing to tell the American people that we are raising taxes for the "EVIL" rich, but that 300,000 might lose their jobs? Here is another interesting article from Walter Williams to illustrate the point. Walter is one of the best economists that I have ever heard speak. He explains economics so that the common man can understand it.
Frequently Asked Questions (Not modified since 2002. Still valid though!)
What political party do you belong to?
Those of you who know me well are probably smiling
now. My political party is Republican. My specific politics tend
to be more to the right than most Republicans.
What do you think about abortion?
I figured that I would get this one out of the
way immediately. This is probably the single most devisive issue
of our day.
I believe that life begins at conception. Killing
a fetus is nothing more than murder. Now, I know that there are
many of you who are probably asking: "What about a woman's
right to choose?". I firmly believe that a woman has the right
to choose. The right to choose whether to have sex or not. The right
to choose whether to use birth control or not. The right to choose
whether to put the baby up for adoption or not.
I have heard nothing in any argument that gives
a woman the right to choose to commit murder.
What about the Death Penalty?
People who make a conscious decision to take another's
life should not be afraid to lose theirs.
How do you reconcile the idea of Abortion
versus the Death Penalty? Are you not taking a life in both cases?
Yes, but there are inherent differences. One is
the murder of an innocent who cannot yet make a decision. The other
is the punishment for someone who has made a conscious and premeditated
decision to kill another.
What I absolutely do not understand is the idea
of the left that it is ok to murder a fetus, but it is not ok to
punish a person who viciously murders another.
What is the function of our Federal Government?
Having read the Constitution of the United States
and the Federalist Papers many times, I believe this issue to be
really clear. The Federal Government should only provide for: Security
for our borders, Issues concerning trade outside the United States,
Coining of a common currency and Immigration. It was intended by
our Founding Fathers that all other functions should be granted
exclusively to the individual states.
Do we really have a problem with Education?
Yes, unfortunately I think that we have a big problem
with education in this country.
By almost any measurement, it can be stated that
the United States has some of the worst literacy rates in the world
in the K-12 age groups. In fact, I believe that almost every single
country has a better record of literacy upon graduation from high
school than the United States.
On the flip side, I think that we have some of
the best Universities in the world.
So, what should we do about Education?
First, I believe that we should admit to ourselves
that there are some who are not capable of getting into college.
We should give everyone equal opportunities, but at some point we
have to be willing to tell a failing student that college is not
an option for them. This should not be done maliciously, but it
has to be done none the less.
I kind of like the German and Japanese systems
of education. Let's use the German system as an example.
When a student reaches 9th grade, they are given
a test to determine their place against the knowledge that you want
them to have. Note that I DID NOT say that they are measured against
their contemporaries or classmates. After the test, the administration
and their teachers sit down with the student and their parents.
The discussion revolves around "What do you need to do to progress
with a college career".
After the student finishes 10th grade, another
test is given to measure again their knowledge against what they
should know. The outcome of this test determines if the student
will be college bound or not.
Those who do not pass this test are not cast loose
upon society or left to fend for themselves. During 11th, 12th,
and possibly the 13th year of schooling, they are given career counseling
and schooling in a trade. Upon graduation, they are put into an
apprentice program.
So, in the end, everyone who graduates from high
school is either prepared to enter college or the workforce.
The problem with our system is that we tend to
cast our children loose upon the world. If they are not prepared
for college, then they are also not prepared for the workforce.
Our system is guaranteed to create a a classification of citizens
that I call "welfare voters". I am sure that this is the
intention of our Liberal Politicians, but these people are ultimately
not good for our society.
