Ellen’s Chrusciki (Love Knots)

4 egg yolks

1 egg

¼ cup powdered sugar

½ tsp. salt

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp rum or brandy

1 cup flour

Add salt to eggs and beat 10 minutes.

Add sugar and flavoring until well blended.

Fold in flour and transfer to a well floured board.

Knead until dough blisters. Cut in half.

Roll very thin and cut into strips 1 1/2” X 4” long.

Slit each piece in center and pull one end through the slit.

Fry in hot fat until lightly brown.

Drain on absorbent paper and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
